Help us Tell the Story of Emma Johnson
One hundred years ago, history was made at Johnson University when Emma Johnson became our President—one of the first female university presidents in the nation. Her legacy, both as First Lady and President, left a lasting impact on our community. Now is the perfect time to share even MORE of her incredible story.
Ashley Wachter, our theatre director, alongside a talented team of students, has developed a brand-new musical based on the life of Emma Johnson called MORE. Ashley—and all of us at Johnson University—believe this is a story that must be told. And we need your help to bring it to life.
Join us in honoring Emma Johnson’s legacy! With your support, we plan to stage a live production featuring a full orchestra, professionally record the performance for video and audio platforms, and submit it for consideration at the Dove Awards.
Welcome to Johnson University Theatre’s First Mainstage Musical!
Join us for the world premiere of More, an original musical by Ashley Sarver Wachter, with live orchestra, October 30–November 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the PW Auditorium.
More tells the story of Emma Johnson—the first female president of an all-male university—set against the Appalachian mountains in a moving exploration of resilience, grief, faith, and love. Developed through JU’s new Playwright and Devised Theatre course, this collaborative production brings together students, staff, and faculty.
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Emma Johnson’s presidency and the launch of JU Theatre’s new tradition, tickets are “Pay What You Can” (suggested $5–$10).
Special thanks to Home Federal Bank and Acts Fleet for sponsoring this milestone event.
We hope you’ll join us for this celebration! See below for additional events.
