Welcome to Johnson Spotlight on the blog-Thanksgiving Edition! Johnson Spotlight is posted every week and seeks to connect the hardworking people at Johnson University Tennessee who do so much behind the scenes to our students, alumni, and friends. Our smiling Johnson Spotlight guest this week is Dave Legg! We are very thankful to have Dave at Johnson and hope you enjoy his witty responses. See what he had to say below:
What is your title/position at Johnson University?
Vice President for Student Services for Johnson University,
Dean of Students for the Tennessee campus, and
Resident Director of Brown Hall
How long have you worked at Johnson University?
I’m in my 24th year.
What is your favorite color?
Once, when Kim Linton was working on decorating the PW building, I told her that gray would be a great color for the carpet and for all the walls, but I was mostly joking – mostly. At any rate it worked – I’ve never again (until now) been asked to give an opinion about color.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I’ve been to 19 countries, 38 states, and the District of Columbia. There is no place in the world more beautiful than central Indiana.
What are your hobbies?
I like spending time with students and family, especially Sadie and Toby (who call me Papa D). I also enjoy hiking, bicycling, and reading about US history, particularly the period around the American Revolution.
What is your favorite fall activity?
What is one interesting fact about yourself?
I own a calculator mouse.
What is your favorite quote/scripture?
“We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me.” – Col. 1:28-29
"When we are planning for posterity, we ought to remember that virtue is not hereditary." – Thomas Paine
“Whenever a people or an institution forgets its hard beginnings, it is beginning to decay.” – Carl Sandburg
Thanks for making us laugh, Dave, and for all you do at Johnson University. The place wouldn’t be the same without you!
In honor of Thanksgiving tomorrow, I want to truly express my gratitude to all of our faculty, staff, and coaches. Johnson University would not be the place it is without the hard work of so many individuals. In creating and conducting the Johnson Spotlight, I have been able to experience the greatness found in the people at Johnson and I’m incredibly thankful to share that with readers on this blog. As a senior, I have only grown in my appreciation for the university and for the people who make it possible for students, like me, to attend. Thank you all- I can speak on the behalf of many students we are thankful for our university and the people who work here, not just this day, but many days!
