The faculty of Johnson University participate in many activities beyond their normal teaching responsibilities. These include writing, speaking, presenting at academic meetings, mission trips, and community involvement. Occasionally, we will publish updates on these activities. The list below describes some faculty activities in July 2014.
At the North American Christian Convention on July 10, Dr. James Riley Estep (Affiliate Faculty in Qualitative Research) co-presented with Gary Johnson and David Roadcup a workshop on “Healthy Elder = Healthy Church” as part of their e2: Effective Elders ministry. They will be presenting six sessions for elders and church leaders at the Eastern Christian Convention in Hershey, PA, from November 14 to 16.
From July 20–25, Dr. Daniel Overdorf (Professor of Pastoral Ministry, TN) taught a daily class titled “Telling the Story” at Lake James School of Missions in Angola, Indiana. His book One Year to Better Preaching: 52 Exercises to Hone Your Skills has been reviewed this year by Scot McKnight and LeRoy Lawson.
