The faculty of Johnson University participate in many activities beyond their normal teaching responsibilities, including writing, speaking, presenting at academic meetings, mission trips, and community involvement. Occasionally, we will publish updates on these activities. The list below describes some faculty activities in August 2014.
Dr. Jon Weatherly (Professor of New Testament, Dean of the School of Bible and Theology) had an article entitled “A Contrarian Perspective on Today’s Christian College Students” published in the August 2014 issue of Christian Standard. On August 28, he participated in an online forum on “Christian Colleges: The Challenges and the Opportunities” led by Mark Taylor of Christian Standard. Other participants were Clay Perkins of Mid-Atlantic Christian University and Michael Sweeney of Emmanuel Christian Seminary, both of whom also contributed to the August issue.
On August 31, Professor Ron Wheeler (Professor of English and Literature, TN) spoke at the 195th Anniversary of Keensburg Christian Church in Keensburg, Illinois, which is the oldest Christian church in Illinois. The pastor, Allan Wright, served as Professor Wheeler’s teaching assistant over thirty years ago, and he has served at Keensburg Christian Church since he graduated from Johnson University. His daughter, Rachelle Wright, currently serves as Professor Wheeler’s teaching assistant.
