Dr. Gary Weedman, president of Johnson University, has officially announced his retirement, effective June 30, 2018. Throughout Dr. Weedman’s tenure as president, Johnson University has experienced tremendous growth in enrollment, academic programs, and facilities. Next year will mark Dr. Weedman’s 11th year as president, 18th year at Johnson, 50th year in Christian higher education, and his 75th birthday.
Dr. Weedman informed the trustees of his decision this past February at their annual Homecoming meeting. He will continue to serve through the next academic school year and will stay connected in service to the university post-retirement, at the direction of the next president.
The Board of Trustees, under the direction of Chairman L.D. Campbell, has begun the presidential search process, beginning with a presidential transition timeline. This timeline will be finalized at their upcoming June meeting and will be made public once completed.
Please join us in celebrating the dedication and passion with which Dr. and Mrs. Weedman have served Johnson throughout the years. We are thankful for their work on behalf of the Kingdom of God and Johnson University.
