Johnson University Celebrates New Partnerships with ExtendEd Launch

The evening April 21st was an important occasion as the representatives of Johnson University and the Knoxville International Bible Institute (KIBI) met at The Regas Building to celebrate their new partnership, ExtendEd Knoxville. Knoxville is one of four cities hosting Johnson University’s new ExtendEd venture. ExtendEd Knoxville will begin offering Adult Evening degrees in August of 2016, building upon KIBI’s long history of biblical education.

KIBI founder Joe Maddox says, “I started Knoxville Interdenominational Bible Institute because I wanted to equip leaders in the church – especially the African American church – with biblical knowledge and the skills to pastor others. This partnership with Johnson University builds on that purpose. The accreditation, reputation, and degree-granting ability of Johnson University will strengthen our program and reward participating faith leaders for the time they are investing in themselves and others.”

Through its new ExtendEd brand, Johnson University will leverage its extensive network of partners and its expertise in online education to provide Christian education opportunities to a wider array of students within a localized community context. ExtendEd programs will combine on-line coursework with small classroom learning and hands-on experiences in churches and other organizations across the country. Johnson University ExtendEd sites will include Adult Evening bachelor’s programs and Strategic Ministry Residency programs at both the bachelor’s and master’s levels. Other ExtendEd locations include Indianapolis, Indiana; Phoenix, Arizona; and Louisville, Kentucky.

President of Johnson University, Dr. Gary Weedman says, “The launch of Johnson University ExtendEd allows the University to extend its reach, making educational opportunities available to more people through innovative partnerships and technology.”

An Informational Meeting for ExtendEd Knoxville will be held for interested students at The Regas Building on Tuesday, April 26, from 6 - 8 p.m. For more information on ExtendEd programs, contact
