Senior Saints in the SONshine

Join us for a three-day retreat, as we 'Sail On!' through scripture.  Enjoy a time of bonding with close friends and make new friends while participating in inspirational workshops, powerful worship times, and dynamic Bible studies.  New this year, we've added more music, more in-depth Bible studies, and we've moved to a nationally known hotel for our accommodations.  Plus you can choose to participate in the "SONshine Choir", so warm up your pipes and pack your bags for a fun-filled vacation with us.

2018 Guest Speaker: David Wheeler

David is a nationally recognized speaker.  He is a Johnson University Graduate with a Master of Arts in Leadership from Kentucky Christian University.  David has been involved in ministry since 1973 serving in roles as: youth minister, senior minister, interim minister, and most recently Campus Minister at Johnson University TN.  He speaks at seminars, retreats, and leadership conferences and was the Featured Speaker at the 2003 NACC.  He has written several articles for the Christian Standard and contributed chapters to two books.  He does stand-up comedy, sometimes accompanied by his cousin, Clyde Dorkman, and is deeply committed to promoting the use of drama in churches.

2018 Bible Study Leader: Dr. Les Hardin

Dr. Hardin is Professor of New Testament at Johnson University Florida.  His primary areas of expertise are:  Life of Christ, Greek, and Revelation.  He has served over 15 years in pastoral ministry and is a well-known speaker on prayer, The Great Commandment, and parables.  Dr. Hardin is also the author of several books including, Letters to Micah: Navigating the Internal Dynamics of Your First Ministry, and his recent book, The Spirituality of Jesus, which was a finalist for Foreword Magazine's Book of the Year Award.

2018 Music Worship & "SONshine Choir" Director:  Michael Coppock

Michael is the Worship Minister at Plymouth Avenue Christian Church.  He is a Johnson University Graduate with a Master of Arts , Teaching degree in music education, and an ordained minister.  He has performed in numerous concert venues including Walt Disney World.  He has been working with the Northeast Florida Conservatory and Osceola Arts Theater.  Michael enjoys leading choir workshops, singing solos, and leading worship.  His talents have been called upon for several state and national conventions.  Overall he has 28 years of experience vocally training and coaching students of all ages.  He looks forward to working with our Senior Saints "SONshine Choir" participants.

Lodging, Meals, and Registration

Prices are per person and include on-campus meals and programming Thursday through Saturday, along with seating at the “IMAGINE Luncheon.” No evening meal is served on Friday, as guests will be enjoying excursions with the opportunity to experience local cuisine. Lodging is assigned as registration and payment is received. We are managing housing through a local hotel only (and a very limited number of on-campus apartments).

***NEW THIS YEAR***  We are also happy to announce, a new host hotel has been contracted to provide accommodations.  The newly remodeled Holiday Inn Express & Suites, near the attractions, has many amenities including 3 pools, 24-hour fitness center, free high-speed internet access and 18-hole miniature golf.  This mobility-friendly resort is approximately 10 miles from our campus.  Complimentary transportation will be provided, from our host hotel, for evening programs. 

Pay by check, Visa, Discover, or MasterCard. Lodging will be filled as payment is received.  Registration and payments postmarked by, January 31, 2018, will qualify for the Early-bird pricing. Registrations will be refunded if canceled by March 1, 2018.  On-site registrations will be accepted but are not encouraged, and lodging cannot be guaranteed for those registering the day of the event. 


Balanced schedule includes meals, Bible study, workshops, activities, worship, refreshments, and fellowship. 

Check-in begins at 12:30 PM, Thursday, on campus at the Chapman Center, with the first activity beginning at 1:10 PM, as you sit in on a class of your choice, with our students and professors.  Hospitality Tent with music and refreshments will be open from 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM.  The first practice session for the 'SONshine Choir" begins at 2:45 PM Thursday, with the big, "Welcome Aboard Dinner" to begin at 5:30 PM.   Friday afternoon includes free time when guests will be able to choose from a variety of excursions in the local neighborhood or activities on-campus. Excursion options: an extended Bible study, hymn sing, golf, ladies’ tea with Mrs. Eubanks, antique shopping, Gatorland, unique eateries, fishing, swimming, and more (additional charges vary; bring your own equipment for sports activities).
