President Gary Weedman and I are pleased to inform you that Dr. Michael Chambers has accepted the position of Chancellor and Vice Provost, Elect, of Johnson University Florida effective June 1, 2015. I will serve as Chancellor and Vice Provost, with responsibilities as chief administrative officer overseeing academics, until the Fall Convocation, August 25, at which time he will assume that role. I will remain here until the end of October, assisting him in any way I can.
Dr. Chambers, who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Lincoln Christian University and Seminary and a Ph.D. from Warnborough College, UK, is well known and highly respected among the constituency of Johnson University Florida. He served Florida Christian College as professor from 1979-2006 and as Dean of Students for fifteen years of that time. The last nine years he has been Academic Dean and Executive Vice President of St. Louis Christian College.
He is a dedicated Christian leader, a good preacher, a splendid teacher, and an experienced administrator. He and his wife, Pam, have three married children, all engaged in Christian service with their spouses in Minnesota, Rhode Island, and Queensland, Australia. They are also blessed with seven grandchildren. We believe that Mike is the right person to lead Johnson University Florida in building on the good transition that has occurred during the last two years.
