New Creation is a group of musically talented JUFL students under the direction of Dr. Ruth Reyes and Mr. Dirk Donahue. New Creation plays an important role in the Music Department of Johnson University Florida (JUFL) and has for the past 19 years. As an accomplished group of vocalists and instrumentalists, New Creation represents the University at various churches during their annual tour and performs on campus during special events. The members of New Creation volunteer their spring break to share their talents with friends of the University and communicate how JUFL has impacted their lives. Many members of this group have become musical worship leaders and music teachers as a result of their training in the School of Communication and Creative Arts at JUFL.
Over the last three years, New Creation has been able to extend their influence beyond the annual tour as they have had the opportunity to record two CD albums. The most recent project, LOVED, includes six original songs about love and forgiveness, written by Worship Ministry and Musical Arts students. These songs were part of the final project in a worship theology course and formed the core of the song set performed in the contemporary portion of last year’s New Creation's spring tour program. Students who contributed songs are: seniors Chris Dalisay, Mandie Flynn, Bethany Martinelli Baker, and Jackson Rodeffer; junior Taylor Wood; and recent graduate Cati Van Kley.
A previously released CD, CORNERSTONE, is also available and features songs from New Creation’s spring tours in 2013 and 2014. Songs on this CD were composed by New Creation alumni Laurie Brooks, Stephen Corp, Jesse Crouch, Nicole Logan, and Nick Zema.
Both projects are now available by going to this link.
