Biblical Studies Associate's Degree

Biblical StudiesThe two-year Associate of Arts and Associate of Science in Biblical Studies offer students a broad-based foundation for Christian life and service with an emphasis on worldview issues. These programs combine introductory coursework from Johnson University’s undergraduate Arts & Sciences Core and Bible & Theology Major. Accordingly, they prepare students for further studies toward a four-year bachelor’s degree. The A.A. includes a one-year study of a world language. Johnson University currently offers New Testament Greek for Translators online.

Students in Biblical Studies will benefit from Johnson’s accreditation, affordable tuition, and an experienced and engaged faculty dedicated to the spiritual formation and professional preparedness of each student. The Associate of Arts degree includes one year of world language coursework.

When students complete this program, they will be able to do the following:

  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills in beliefs and actions.
  • Communicate effectively in oral and written forms.
  • Develop skills to identify, evaluate, and acquire information necessary to engage in lifelong learning.
  • Appreciate the historical developments of the knowledge, traditions, literature, values, and beliefs of human cultures around the world.
  • Demonstrate Christian beliefs, values, conduct, and servant-leadership in the Christian community and engagement with the world.
  • Interact one-to-one and in groups by listening, conversing, collaborating, building consensus, and resolving conflict.
  • Recall facts about the Bible’s content and context.
  • Interpret the meaning of biblical passages using credible Bible study tools and resources.
  • Apply the teachings of the Bible to personal and vocational contexts.
